Celine had to renounce to her long black gloves owing to the summer heat and humidity of Durban in mid-February.

Hi Celine's Maniacs, my name is Sashlin and I attended Celine's Durban concert on wed 20th feb. The vibe was absolutely electrifying. The venue was packed to the max. There was a slight drizzle before the show and during Jody Williams' (our Idols winner) performance. I was seated in the golden circle, which set me back R898. I seated in the middle of the venue and about 13 rows infront of the stage.

When it was time for the DIVA to come on, the Heavens were clear. In South-Africa we believe that when it rains, you have been blessed by the gods.......so I need'nt say anymore. Minutes before the show the left side of the stadium began to scream, so i knew she was in the building. Then she waved at them and then all hell broke loose. A thuderous applause followed by livid screams echoed throughout the stadium. Only the people on the far left were priviledged to this experience whislt the rest of us were stuck somewhere between awe and jealousy.

Finally the lights dimmed and the screens lit up. Then a video montage was shown with of all the songs Celine had ever done highlighting her illustrious career. A remixed verion of "I DROVE ALL NIGHT" was played in the backround. Then the video showed Celine (sexy as ever) driving in the desert and then.... there she appeared from underneath the centre screen singing I Drove All Night. We went stark raving mad, as we jumped out of our seats and applauded. In a sexy little black dress, heels, wavy hair and her golden voice she swiftly moved accross the stage and promted the crowd to move their hands from left to right as if turning a steering wheel. I was so close I saw the vien popping as she effortlessly belted out the song.

This was my first ever live Celine Dion experience, thus the first time I have seen her in living colour. She is incredilbly beauitful and surprisingly tall. She has the most silky, smooth, tanned legs I havE ever seen. She was incredibly sexxxxxxy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her next songs were "I'VE GOT THE MUSIC IN ME" and "THE POWER OF LOVE" after which she addressed the crowd. We were very impressed to hear that Celine was using some South Afraican and Zulu words during her speech. Her english was emmaculate as well.

After this there was a lightning bolt and then the piano started playing and Celine started "ITS ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW". At this time another person and I held up our posters to which Celine pointed at and gave us a thumbs up. Then it was to "BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME" that Celine and the crowd sang the last two lines of the song. Celine is such an amazing live singer. She never missed a note. The depth, range, scale and audiability of her voice was other-worldly. She rounded off this segment with "TO LOVE YOU MORE", "TAKING CHANCES".

As the next video of a book with turning pages played it was time for a costume change. During this time 4 dancers appered on stage, moving A-new-day-stlye acccross the floor.Celine emerged in a white top, red slacks and a trein. Then the eastern rhythms of "EYES ON ME" began. Just before she sings "Say yeah" in the 2nd chorus , one of the dancers promptly rips off the trein.....very visionary.

During this segment she also sang "THINK TWICE", "POUR QUE TU M'AIMES ENCORE", "SHADOW OF LOVE", "CAN'T FIGHT THE FEELING". But by far the best song of this segment was "ALL BY MYSELF". When Celine hit her 10 second note we all were flawed. The stadium reverberated with the power of her voice. Another video played. It showed Celine during a photoshoot as the photographer and the model, a remixed "MHWGO" played as well.

Then Celine opened the next segment with "I'M ALIVE" to which we all danced followed by "I'M YOUR ANGEL", and "ALONE". This was then followed by "The Queen Tribute" where she sang "WE WILL ROCK YOU" and "THE SHOW MUST GO ON". I myself am not a huge Queen fan but I did enjoy Celine's renditions of both songs. After this the final video played and the band and dancers entertained us for a while. Then Celine unleashed her sexy, sassy self in a short gold, shimmering dress. She sang "It's a Man's World" and "That's Just the Woman In Me".

"" was particularly special coz our hostess asked us to dance with her, as she did in vegas... so how could we refuse. I was groovin with people I didn't know. The true power of Celine is her ability to connect with her audience and bring people together. She ended this segment with an un-friggin-believable performance of "River Deep Mountain High". We were all stunned to hear her say "Thank you Durban,Goodnite" at the end of the song.

What about the song that carved Celine into the legend that she is????????????? We all instantaneously shouted "WE WANT MORE, WE WANT MORE" It took about 5 mins before we heard the familiar sounds that moved all of our souls and the flute started playing and finally she emerged. In a yellow gown looking as if she was sent by the gods in such angelic perfection, she entered into those words which every person on the planet knows. She sang the song took harbow and off she went. By the end of "My heart will go on" I felt complete. I could have died then. I was gushing like a fool and smiling for no particular reason. That concert was the most earth-shattering, soul nourishing and heart wrenching experience I have ever had.

Regards. Sashlin
