Céline Dion offers a song to Marc Dupré

(7:30 p.m. GMT) Céline Dion offers to the humorist and singer, Marc Dupré the only song she ever wrote.

The song, entitled Tout Près Du Bonheur (Very Close To Happiness), was written in 2000 for M. Dupré and Anne-Marie Angélil's wedding (René's son-in-law and daughter). Céline Dion performed it after the ceremony.

A few weeks ago Marc Dupré asked Céline the permission to use her lyrics... and his mother-in-law accepted immediately.

The humorist recorded the song, a mixture of rock and pop, accompanied by a few vocal performances of the diva. His album, Refaire le monde, will be presented on October 18th at the Spectrum in Montreal.

Céline Welcomes The "Academicians"

(3:00 p.m. GMT) The 11 participants of the Quebecer broadcasting "Star Academie" gathered a shoking-revelation last night: they would have flown to Las Vegas for a short trip of 3 days in company with Céline Dion & René Angelil.

The whole "Academy" is moving to Las Vegas. It won't be a vacation even if the 11 "Academicians" will stay at Caesars Palace Hotel. They will keep on doing the same things that usually did in Quebec. They will also attend one of this week's Céline shows "A New Day..." and in spite of her commitments, Céline will also take part in the "Academy" works.

She will rehearse with the group of "Academicians" one of the songs of her upcoming Greatest Hits in French "On Ne Change Pas". Céline will sing LIVE from Las Vegas during this Sunday's broadcasting (all the Academicians will be in Montreal). That will be the ONLY music performance that Céline will do in Quebec to promote her new album.

A dream comes true

click here (9:05 p.m. GMT) A dream has came true for a former Baker County resident. On August 26, eleven-year-old Heather Tanner flew to Las Vegas to meet her favorite star, pop music crooner Celine Dion.

Heather, who has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, won tickets to visit the Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and watch Dion perform back in January of 2004 from Celine’s official fan website www.teamCeline.com. Since then, because of ups and downs with Heather’s illness, she and her family have been unable to make the trip. But in August, things began to pick up and Heather packed her clothes and headed out west to see a dream of hers come to life.

The family landed in Las Vegas on August 26 and took the time they had to rest for the following day, for they knew that it would be eventful. In fact, more eventful than they could have imagined.

After several intense hours of waiting, the big night finally arrived and Heather was as excited as ever. They spent the hours before the show cruising the Celine Dion Boutique in Caesar’s Palace where Heather racked up on goodies and a Celine Dion frog.

Next, it was time for the majorly anticipated meet and greet with Celine, which took place before the show. When they arrived Celine greeted Heather with open arms, because of Heather’s illness and her being such a fan Celine knew who she was. She gave Heather a bag of goodies that contained such items as a hat, t-shirt and perfume.

She also signed many things for Heather. She even signed a replacement of the CD jacket that Heather had meant to bring but with all the excitement left in the room. Celine and Heather then posed for many pictures that Heather’s mom, Calmin took. Even though she was on a tight schedule, Celine was so determined that the experience for Heather was everything she wanted that she had Calmin check the pictures to make sure they turned out before she left. When it was found that some of them weren’t quite as good as they wanted, Celine posed some more.

"There’s one thing I know for sure," Celine told them. "the show won’t start without me."

After 28 minutes of talking with Celine, which is a feat in itself given that the fans are usually only given 15 minutes each to meet with her, Heather and her family made their way to the concert hall where Celine was performing. Heather listened intently to her favorite star sing beautiful music. When the show was ending, it came time for Celine to pick a fan to give a single red rose to.

Though she was ecstatic, Heather made it through the meet and greet and the entire concert without shedding one tear of happiness. It was only when Celine handed her the single red rose that her tears of joy began falling. In an act of kindness and deep sincerity Celine sat down with Heather while the show was going, picked her up, sat her in her lap and held her until she stopped crying. It was truly the night of her life.

Though they were to return home sooner, Heather and her family had to stay a little longer because of a severe sinus infection that was hindering her ability to travel. After seeing a Pulmonologist and being cleared for the air, Heather returned home.

Though her time in Las Vegas was short, the memories will last a lifetime. The night that her dream came true was a night that Heather Tanner will never forget.

No Interviews For Céline!

(5:02 a.m. GMT) Céline refused to be interviewed again after crying her heart and anger out during last weekend's Larry King Live on CNN. Pressed by several reports who wanted her to repeat her comments about the delayed aids for Katrina's victims, the singer preferred to turn back in the shade. Broadcastings like Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight, in particular, tried but in vain.

According to her spokeswoman in Las Vegas, Céline does not regret her accusations against Bush's administration. Her manager and husband René Angélil declared that Céline said what she had to say and that she does not have to explain more.

"We Are The One"

(5:02 a.m. GMT) Russell Simmons, the founder of Def Jam Records who brought black, hip-hop culture into the American mainstream, is working with his Hip-Hop Summit Action Network to put together an entire album — The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network Presents: Forces of Nature — to benefit the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Simmons said a major ensemble has recorded a track as well. "One record I got, Denise Rich made and Sharon Stone is paying for the video," he elaborated. "It's got like 20 artists on there already. Everybody from Celine Dion to Game."

Simmons said Rich's record was originally started in the wake of the Asian tsunami tragedy but definitely applies to what happened with Katrina. "It's a big pop ballad, it's got everybody on the whole world on there," he reiterated. "Everybody you can think of, and it's called 'We Are One.' Denise Rich produced it. She's been working on it for six months and she just mixed it today. They filmed every recording, so every place they flew for Jadakiss or Game or Chingy to rap, they filmed every artist doing their part. She wants to put that out right now."

Editorial: Really Well Done!! Go Céline, We Support You!!

(9:20 p.m. GMT) Well, as you could have noticed by yourself, last Saturday's appearance of Céline on CNN was very special!! For the very first time we saw a different Céline Dion. Yeah, we all already knew that she was a very kind and down-to-earth person... but last Saturday, this lady surprised everyone! Crying her heart out for Katrina Hurricane victims she took a position against the delayed and still poor federal response: "I open the television, there's people still there waiting to be rescued. To me that is not acceptable," she yelled. And, making matters "worse", she gave a laud slap at the U.S. policy in Iraq: "How can it be so easy to send planes in another country to kill everybody in a second and destroy lives?! We need to serve OUR country... and for me to serve our country is to be there right now to rescue the rest of the people."

I was reading an article on the press this morning, the "reporter" (a real incompetent!) said something like "Céline Dion said "OUR" country... phhh, honey you're Canadian!"... as if being Canadian or Italian, French, Spanish, Mexican, Brazilian, Ugandan, Ruandian, Chinese and so on mean that they (WE!) are not able to understand the atrocious pains of Katrina victims. I can't find the link to his squalid article right now... but I would have liked to show you all what he/she wrote just to consume the keys of his/her keyboard!

In these years, all medias: TV, press, internet have contributed to enlarge all national frontiers so that WE ALL ARE CITIZENS OF ONE COUNTRY!! YOUR SORROW IS MY SORROW AND MINE IS YOURS!!

There has been an incredible and unforgivable delay of aids...IT'S A FACT! And Céline and ONLY a few other celebrities were brave enough to denounce the SHAMEFUL administration in front of this American apocalypse! Most of U.S. policy is in Iraq and the delay was caused by the lack of troops and by an underestimating of Katrina Hurricane effects...IT'S A FACT! and Miss Dion denounced that without even submmitting to continous obstacles of Larry King.

Well, her special TV appearance didn't pass unobserved! Millions of people were watching and Céline struck everybody... even her "non-fans" or her "haters"... They admire her now!!! Blogs and Forums around the world are full of topics about her... and everybody agree with her! Click here to read some comments that we chose for you. We (also!) never took a position in this way... but we had to! NO REGRETS! Céline Dion deserved our support and here it is!

US$1,000,000 For Katrina Victims!

(5:45 a.m. GMT) Céline has pledged $1,000,000 to the American Red Cross to help the relief and recovery efforts for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Céline and her partners, Concerts West/AEG Live and DRAGONE, will donate proceeds from their Las Vegas show "A New Day..." to help the people in need as a result of the tragedy.

Jerry Lewis, one of Hollywood's most legendary comedians, is also lending his energy to Katrina disaster relief. Lewis was already planning to hold his annual telethon to raise money to fight muscular dystrophy on September 4. On Wednesday Lewis said his organisation would divide the money it raised this year between victims of the hurricane-stricken communities and the traditional beneficiaries dealing with muscular dystrophy.
