Ennio Morricone Touched By Celine Dion Tribute

Honorary Oscar recipient Ennio Morricone was incredibly moved when Céline Dion sang a new song in tribute to him at the 79th Academy Awards on Sunday night (February 25, 2007). Morricone received a prize for his lifetime achievement in scoring films and Dion premiered the song I Knew I Loved You during the tribute.

He explains Dion's performance "Gave me immense pleasure. She said (at first), 'You know, I don't know if I'm going to be capable because I'm feeling very moved myself.'"" The veteran composer claims one of his most treasured possessions is a record of Dion singing the theme from "Once Upon A Time In America".

The 400th anniversay of Quebec

(8:00 p.m. GMT) It's eventually at Youville (Quebec-Canada) that will be launch the celebrations of the 400th anniversay of Quebec, on December 31st 2007. Céline Dion might be part of the opening-show, said Mario Pelchat, since she will give her last Vegas show on December 15th. "Nothing is decided yet, we're still negociating with René Angelil and we're considering different possibilities - added M. Pelchat. We talked about the eventuality of a special opening-show or of a show at the Urban Opera Theatre which might take place in early July. She might be alone or part of a show with more artists."

M. Pelchat, who talked to Mr. Angelil last spring for the first time, said that he's confident to reach an agreement. «M. Angelil isn't reluctant, on the contrary. He always seemed very open and positive. It's now matter of finding a date and a place, which isn't easy since Céline Dion has an overloaded planning." According to the producer, the issue of money isn't a problem for the moment, "since it hadn't been treated yet".

Q&A: CELINE DION

(9:30 a.m. GMT) She's leaving Las Vegas to sing at the Oscars, but Céline Dion took time to chat with Ramin Setoodeh.

R.S.: You've been to the Oscars more often than Leonardo DiCaprio.

C.D.: Oh, I'm not sure about that. I've been to the Oscars five times.

R.S.: Remember when you wore a big white hat?

C.D.: It was definitely very different. For me, it was glamorous. A lot of people hated it.

R.S.: So no hats this year?

C.D.: Of course not. This year, my husband, Rene, is going to wear the white hat.

R.S.: Vegas must be exhausting.

C.D.: The first year, I did 200 shows, five nights a week. I couldn't talk to my husband or son. Two days of taking a break vocally.

R.S.: How do you do that?

C.D.: I don't talk at all. My husband and I communicate on the phone without me talking. [She starts tapping the phone.] Did you hear that? How many hits mean different things. One means yes, two means no. But I'm not going to tell you all our secret things.

R.S.: What time do you get off of work?

C.D.: I finish the show at 10:30 at night. By the time I take a shower, I have my little snack, I do my drive back home, I never arrive before midnight. I love to sleep late. I can go to bed at 5 a.m. and wake up at 2 p.m.

R.S.: When do you see Rene-Charles?

C.D.: Actually, my 6-year-old son has the same hours as us. Isn't that amazing?

R.S.: But doesn't he go to school?

C.D.: He's home-schooled. His teacher comes at 3:30 in the afternoon.

R.S.: Does he sing, too?

C.D.: He loves heavy rock and the Doors. It's the first song he hummed to me. [She sings: "Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?"] I think it comes from the videogames. The Wii is the hottest thing on our TV right now.

R.S.: How did you get a Nintendo Wii?

C.D.: My best friend in the world, Robin, waited in line at 4:30 in the morning.

R.S.: Since you're already awake at 4:30 in the morning, you could've just gone yourself.

C.D.: I know, but I didn't even see it coming.

LISTEN to S’il n’en restait qu’une (je serais celle-là) !!!!

click here (7:50 p.m. GMT) Céline Dion is putting the finishing touches on a new French-language album entitled D'elles, which will be released on May 21-22, 2007. The first single from D’elles, entitled “S’il n’en restait qu’une (je serais celle-là),” hit Quebec and French radio stations and iTunes TODAY. By clicking here, you'll be able to listen to the FULL song and a video message from Céline. Here are the lyrics:

OFFICIAL: CELINE @ THE 79TH ACADEMY AWARDS!!

(11:20 a.m. GMT) Céline Dion will be performing at the 79th Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, February 25th (at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on ABC). Céline will grant a desire of the revered Italian composer Ennio Morricone who will be receiving the Life Achievement Award at this year's ceremony. She will be performing a NEW song: "I Knew I Loved You", that will be included on the upcoming all-star tribute album celebrating the music of Morricone, "We All Love Ennio Morricone" due on February 20th, and also on Dion's upcoming English-language album to be released in OCTOBER 2007.

Céline's first performance at the Oscars was in 1992 with Peabo Bryson, they sang Beauty and the beast winning the Oscar. In 1997 she performed Because you loved me, the theme from Up close and personal and I finally found someone (the theme from The mirror has two faces), because Barbra Streisand was suddenly ill. In 1998 she performed My heart will go on, the theme from Titanic winning the Oscar. Finally Céline and Andrea Bocelli sang The prayer from Quest for Camelot in 1999. It will be Céline's FIFTH performance (or sixth, if we include the song of Streisand) at the Oscar-ceremony. This makes her the ONLY singer who performed so many times during the live broadcast from Hollywood.

"I knew I loved you" - The Lyrics!

I knew I loved you
Before I knew you
The hands of time
Would lead me to you

An evening star
Was from afar
It guided me here
It knew you'd be here

Now wrapped in moonlight
At last together
Here in the incandescent glow
We are all we need to know
As we softly please each other
'Til the stars and shadow glow
And we sleep
With our dreams around us.

Oooohhhh ahhhhhh
Ooohhhhohhhh

It guided me
It knew you'd be here

I knew I loved you
Before I found you
I knew I'd built my world around you
Now all my days
And all my nights
And my tomorrows
Will all begin
And end
With you...
With you.

Caesars Palace Responds to Allegations

(730 a.m. GMT) Responding to grossly inaccurate media speculation about the gaming activity of prominent entertainment entrepreneur Rene Angelil, Caesars Palace issued a statement today. "Allegations that Rene gambles as much as $1 million per week are totally false," said Gary Selesner, president of the famed resort. "In deference to the privacy of all our guests, we don't discuss their gaming or hotel patronage, but with Rene's permission, we would like to set the record straight. His casino losses in 2005 and 2006 have totaled exactly $230,300, which have been more than offset by his tournament poker winnings, of $259,079, which are posted on the Internet.

"Rene and his wife Celine Dion are very dear to us," Selesner continued. "In addition to being the best partners a business person could want, they are exemplary people, whose integrity, achievement and philanthropy have justly earned worldwide respect. In life and in business, Rene is a winner, and one of the finest people I have ever known. Caesars Palace is very sorry for any embarrassment that may have resulted from the media speculation." The Caesars Palace response was issued after an inaccurate statement appeared in newspapers.
