More Shows For René-Charles & His Dad!

(12:30 p.m. GMT) Céline Dion's 5-year-old son, René Charles, with his father, René Angelil, attended another Vegas show this week. They have been at Lance Burton's magic show on Thursday (August 24th) at the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The show started at 7:00 p.m. PT so that (again!) Céline wasn't able to be there with her family because she had to perform in her own show, "A New Day".

Canada's most powerful musicians

(6:15 a.m. GMT) Who are the global power players in Canadian music? Canadianbusiness.com trawled album sales, ticket sales and radio airtime to figure out which of Canadian musicians command the best sales and enjoy the most exposure worldwide. No big surprise Quebec songstress Celine Dion came out on top; after all, she's got her own show in Vegas. But interestingly enough, eighties icon Bryan Adams also makes the list, thanks to enduring popularity overseas. Nickelback came in #2, Shania Twain in #3, Bryan Adams in #4 and Michal Bublè in #5.

Here's their comment about Céline: "Charlemagne, Que-born Céline Dion first tasted success when she was just 14, becoming the first Canadian ever to have a record go gold in France. Now, this small-town girl is one of the world's most recognized musicians. Besides selling a career-spanning 175 million albums worldwide, she has her own fragrance line, has been mentioned more than 900 times in the press over the last year, and even made an appearance on the hit game show Deal or No Deal in June. There's also her Caesars Palace show in Las Vegas, where she performs about 150 shows a year, grossing US$80 million in the last 12 months."

"Enchanting", Ready To Enchant European Stores

click here "Enchanting", the upcoming Céline Dion's brandnew fragrance, will hit select European countries starting September 1, 2006. This new scent, released by Coty Beauty Inc., will try to equalize the world-wide success of Céline's previous fragrances: "Céline Dion Parfums", "Notes", "Belong" and "Always Belong".

"Enchanting" is an irresistible expression of every woman's ability to fascinate. Its bottle, tall and elegant, is reminiscent of a long, flowing evening gown. Its understated form recalls magical evenings, where women are at their most beautiful and purely feminine. The stylish carton, adorned with rich gold brocade, evokes a dramatic twilight sky, the start of a glamorous evening filled with music and romance.

In a stunning photograph taken by Michael Thompson, Céline projects sensuality and the confidence of a woman at the height of her success - exquisitely gowned and wearing a signature amethyst ring created by H. Stern. Chosen for its mystical properties, the amethyst brings positive energy and success to anyone who wears it.

"I want every woman to realise she has the ability to light up a room ... to fill every inch of her life with fantasy, confidence and splendour," says Céline of her new scent. "Enchanting captures that magical moment when a woman feels her most beautiful and anything is possible."

Nothing Is In The Works

(6:45 a.m. GMT) Since Céline's last album was released, there has been a shakeup in the executive ranks at her label. Charlie Walk was named President of Epic Records in December 2005. He reported to Don Ienner, chairman and CEO of the Sony Music Label Group, and Michele Anthony, president and chief operating officer. In June, Ienner and Anthony exited the company.

Chuck Taylor, senior editor of Radio & Records and singles reviews editor for Billboard, asked Charlie Walk (President of Epic Records Label) about the label's commitment to Céline Dion as an artist and Walk reaffirmed that commitment. Besides, Chuck Taylor met with Céline and her manager/husband Rene Angelil in Las Vegas last month. He asked them if they were working on a new project, and neither Céline nor Rene said that anything was in the works.

Jerry Lewis telethon expanding scope

(10:40 a.m. GMT) Jerry Lewis' annual telethon in Las Vegas will be part of an expansive nationwide effort this year to raise funds to fight muscular dystrophy. Organizers of the Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon said that, while the Labor Day Weekend event will feature the usual assortment of celebrities and business and civic leaders, it will also work in conjunction with thousands of MDA fund-raising events across the nation.

The grassroots events are scheduled to take place in several U.S. cities at locales including bowling alleys, malls, racetracks and parks. All of the events -- along with the 41st annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon (televised from 9 p.m. ET Sunday, September 3rd, to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4) -- are intended to help raise funds for research and treatment of the over 40 neuromuscular diseases the Muscular Dystrophy Association focuses on. Celebrities scheduled to appear on the televised fundraiser include actress Julia Roberts, "Star Trek" and "Boston Legal" star William Shatner, singers Céline Dion , Patti LaBelle and the Goo Goo Dolls.

Celine Duets with Tony Bennett

(10:40 a.m. GMT) In tribute to Tony Bennett's 80th birthday (August 3, 2006), SONYBMG will release a duets CD in honor of this milestone, to be in stores on September 26th. An impressive roster of vocalists joined Tony in the recording studio earlier this year to record duet versions of the songs most associated with Bennett's repertoire. Celine recorded a new duet called "If I Ruled The World" with the crooner. Among the list of guest duet artists are: Barbra Streisand, Bono, Elton John, John Legend, the Dixie Chicks, James Taylor, k.d. lang, Juanes, Elvis Costello, Tim McGraw and Sting.

Each artist performed live with Tony in studios in New York, Los Angeles and London and for many of these artists this "face to face" approach was a departure from their standard method of studio recording. Phil Ramone is the producer for this project.
